Festival Foods is currently seeking a full-time Bakery Assistant Manager at their Verona location. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic bakery team where fresh, creative, and high-quality baked goods are crafted daily to celebrate special moments and everyday indulgences for guests. The Bakery Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Bakery Department Manager by overseeing daily bakery operations, managing a dedicated team, and ensuring customer service excellence.

In this leadership role, the Assistant Manager is responsible for training new bakery associates on pastry offerings and food service standards, conducting performance reviews, and providing ongoing feedback to help the team thrive. Operational duties include maintaining department standards such as inventory management, ensuring accurate pricing, and upholding safety, cleanliness, quality, and quantity standards throughout the bakery. This position requires a hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example, stepping in to manage the bakery department during the manager's absence.

Guest service is a priority, with duties including assisting customers in finding products, managing special orders, and addressing concerns with professionalism and care. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Store Director, Bakery Director, and other department managers to foster collaboration and ensure smooth operation of the bakery department. Administrative responsibilities such as accurate timekeeping, scheduling coordination with HR, and maintaining regular attendance in compliance with company policies are also essential.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of bakery operations, leadership capabilities to motivate and inspire a team, and certification as a Wisconsin Certified Food Manager (which the company is willing to support obtaining). Physical demands include the ability to stand for extended periods, operate various bakery equipment safely, and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Proven leadership experience in bakery or food service operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Knowledge of bakery equipment operation
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • Willingness to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must have or obtain Wisconsin Certified Food Manager License

  • Work collaboratively with Store Director, Bakery Director, and other managers to ensure smooth operations
  • Manage timekeeping accuracy and communicate scheduling issues with HR
  • Ensure regular attendance and timely communication for absences
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the team
