Known for its commitment to exceptional guest experiences, the hotel blends sophisticated style and modern amenities to create a vibrant atmosphere that reflects the spirit and culture of the surrounding neighborhood. Marriott International is renowned globally for its hospitality standards, dedication to employee growth, and fostering inclusive work environments. The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel proudly offers culinary professionals opportunities to advance their careers while contributing to an attentive and dynamic team devoted to guest satisfaction.
This full-time, non-management culinary position offers an hourly wage ranging between $21.50 and $22.50, presenting a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation, culinary arts, and delivering high-quality guest experiences. The culinary associate role at this hotel involves preparing and cooking food according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines, ensuring guests receive visually appealing and delicious dishes. The position is designed for those with a base understanding of cake decorating and the ability to accurately follow and scale recipes, whether for smaller orders or larger events.
The hotel also partners with the Rouxbe Cooking School to facilitate online culinary training, promoting skill development for associates irrespective of their experience level. This innovative training platform delivers a self-paced learning experience with access to hundreds of detailed lessons that enhance associates' culinary knowledge and practical skills. Culinary associates are encouraged to apply their newly acquired competencies directly to their work, fostering continuous growth and career progression within the culinary field.
Primary responsibilities include ingredient preparation such as portioning, chopping, and safe storage to maintain freshness and quality. Associates are trained to use baking and measuring tools and appliances safely and proficiently to produce various baked products. Adherence to food safety and hygiene protocols is paramount, with an emphasis on personal hygiene, proper food handling, and thorough cleaning and sanitation of kitchen areas to meet strict health standards. Quality control is a continuous process during each shift, with associates monitoring food quality and portion sizes to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.
The position demands a physical presence on-site, requiring the ability to move, lift, and carry objects up to 25 pounds, and to handle the physical demands of working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, including standing for long periods and accessing items stored overhead or below knee level. Associates will also demonstrate professionalism by maintaining clean and appropriate uniforms, communicating clearly and courteously, and supporting a team-oriented work environment that values collaboration and shared goals.
With no prior supervisory experience required, this role welcomes individuals beginning their culinary careers or looking to develop further in a supportive setting that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Washington Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel and Marriott International commit to equal opportunity employment, celebrating the unique backgrounds and talents of all employees and ensuring a safe, respectful workspace free from discrimination. This role is an excellent match for motivated culinary professionals eager to advance, supported by a global brand with numerous benefits and a culture that encourages employees to be their best selves while contributing meaningfully to guests' memorable experiences.
