This full-time Cook position within the community restaurant offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of senior residents daily. The Cook will prepare fresh, nutritious, visually appealing, and delicious meals that cater not only to residents but also to team members, prospective residents, families, and guests. The role includes working closely with the culinary director to develop diverse menus featuring traditional comfort food, global cuisines, and seasonal dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. The organization emphasizes cooking and baking most items from scratch, seeking individuals with a strong culinary passion and skillset.

In this role, the Cook will support a compassionate, high-performing team focused on redefining senior living through high-quality dining experiences. Responsibilities include preparing meals following established recipes and dietary guidelines, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, collaborating effectively with dining services for timely meal delivery, and adhering strictly to local, state, and federal food safety regulations. The position also involves ongoing training in food handling and safety, proper storage and handling of cleaning supplies, and assistance with various kitchen operations as needed.

Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary school credentials or equivalent education and experience preferred
  • valid food handler card with knowledge of kitchen sanitation and food safety regulations
  • minimum one year of experience working in a full-service kitchen environment
  • ability to follow recipes and prepare dishes from scratch
  • familiarity with kitchen equipment and proper knife handling
  • understanding of dietary restrictions and modifications, especially for senior residents
  • capacity to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • culinary school is a plus, or the equivalent of education and experience
  • food handler card with an understanding of kitchen sanitation and food codes
  • at least one year of experience in full-service kitchen surroundings, including following recipes and cooking dishes from scratch
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment and knife handling skills
  • knowledge of dietary restrictions and meal modifications for seniors is a plus
  • ability to read and execute a recipe
  • proficiency in preparing a variety of desserts, pastries, including large-batch cooking
  • creative culinary and prep skills are a plus
  • previous experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality settings is highly desirable
  • availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays

Job Duties
