The Baker/Mixer role at Whole Foods Market is an integral position within the Bakery Team. This role involves hands-on work with the production of freshly baked goods, including bread and various bakery items. The position requires a strong understanding of the baking process—from mixing doughs accurately to shaping, proofing, and finally baking the products to ensure the highest standards of quality and consistency. The Baker/Mixer collaborates closely with other bakery team members to maintain smooth and efficient production processes. The scheduled shifts primarily run from 4:00 am to 12:30 pm, including weekends, which underscores the importance of reliability and punctuality in this role.

This position demands proficiency with bakery equipment, including mixers, water chillers, and dispensers, while adhering to strict cleaning and sanitation protocols. The Baker/Mixer must follow safety standards including FSMA, HACCP, and organic production guidelines. Job Requirements

  • ability to read and speak basic English
  • must be 18 years of age or older

  • ability to work in temperatures from -10 to 100 degrees
  • ability to work rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • experience in bench hand production and all aspects of bread production

Job Duties

  • mix doughs correctly and weigh/measure accurately
  • be very accurate in mixing, dividing, shaping, proofing, and baking to ensure consistency in daily production
  • understand and follow all recipes and instructions
  • follow production schedule
  • clean work areas, mixers, and utensils
  • work with PLUs and UPC codes
  • operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
