Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent experience
  • Over six months up to one year of related bakery or food service experience
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently
  • Visual ability to see from more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet with or without correction
  • Capability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Willingness to work daytime shifts
  • Adherence to company policies and safety guidelines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to flour, noise, temperature extremes, and cleaning chemicals

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience
  • Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
  • Effective arithmetic skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to provide basic guidance
  • Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures
  • Ability to operate bakery equipment
  • Customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
  • Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and handling heavy loads
  • Answer the telephone promptly and take product orders
  • Check daily orders and set up timelines and production schedules
  • Prepare makeup, bake, and fry bakery products
  • Review product freshness and remove stale items
  • Invoice and put away products as directed
  • Anticipate product needs for current and subsequent days
  • Inspect quality and quantity of incoming products
  • Understand bakery equipment use and identify maintenance issues
  • Check signage and labels for accuracy
  • Review department for safety issues
  • Operate as a lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritize orders according to customer and manager requests
  • Proof necessary items
  • Pull products from freezer or cooler
  • Practice proper sanitation and keep work area clean
  • Adhere to department/company guidelines on personal hygiene and dress
  • Report to work timely as scheduled
  • Order supplies and merchandise for the department except cake decorating items
  • Re-merchandise shelves and dispose of outdated products
  • Write department schedules and ensure staffing in manager's absence
  • Assist in other store areas as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required
