Employing more than 2,500 coworkers, the company is passionate about creating a meaningful and purposeful environment where innovation and dedication go hand in hand. Situated in the Wyomissing (Reading) area, Country Meadows blends a compassionate approach with industry-leading practices to ensure the highest quality of life for the seniors it serves. The organization prides itself on fostering a supportive workplace culture that encourages growth and career development among its team members. Their commitment to excellence is evident through comprehensive training programs and career advancement opportunities designed to empower employees to achieve their full potential. As a Baker/Cook at Country Meadows, you will be an essential part of this mission, responsible for cooking and baking quality meals tailored to the tastes and needs of their senior residents. This role offers more than just a typical culinary position you might find in a restaurant. Working here means engaging in a meaningful profession where your culinary skills positively impact the lives of seniors every day. With scheduled full-time hours from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, including every other weekend and holiday off, the position promotes a healthy work-life balance. Starting pay ranges from $19 to $20 per hour, with increased earning potential based on experience. Moreover, Country Meadows supports its employees with an impressive benefits package, including above-standard industry wages, on-demand pay options, performance-based bonuses, length-of-service bonuses, and a $2 meal plan. The organization also offers generous paid time off with rollover, double-time holiday pay including on birthdays, personal Meaning Day Holidays, and comprehensive healthcare benefits through Highmark Blue Shield, United Concordia Dental, and vision plans. Additional perks include a 401(k) plan with employer match, employee assistance programs, wellness reimbursement incentives, and pet insurance. The Baker/Cook at Country Meadows prepares, cooks, and packages food using various kitchen appliances such as broilers and ovens. This position demands consistency in following standard recipes, maintaining strict quality standards, and adhering to kitchen rules. Keeping the workspace clean and sanitary, cleaning equipment as per procedures, and documenting food and temperature records are also vital. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of culinary or cooking experience, preferably in senior living or related fields. Flexibility to adjust to resident needs, willingness to learn new food preparation techniques, multi-tasking capabilities, and physical stamina are required. Additionally, proficiency in English is necessary to ensure safe and efficient job performance. Joining Country Meadows means becoming part of a community committed to enhancing the lives of others and progressing your career in a purpose-driven environment. This role offers a unique opportunity for culinary professionals who seek to work in a setting that values their contribution beyond just food preparation, empowering them to make a real difference.
