As a Baker/Mixer at Whole Foods Market, you will be integral to the daily production of baked goods, contributing to the quality and consistency that customers expect. Your responsibilities will include mixing doughs with precision, dividing, shaping, proofing, and baking all bread and bakery products in alignment with recipes and production schedules. You will collaborate closely with other Bakery Team Members to ensure a seamless baking process, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout your workspace and using bakery equipment efficiently and hygienically. This role not only demands technical baking skills but also emphasizes teamwork, communication, and adherence to food safety practices such as FSMA, HACCP, and Organic standards.

The position offers a wage range from $16.00 to $28.05 hourly, commensurate with experience, reflecting the company's recognition of skill and expertise. Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to read and speak basic English
  • Mix doughs correctly and measure accurately using scales
  • Understand correct mixing order
  • Follow production schedule
  • Clean work areas, mixers, and utensils
  • Work with PLUs and UPC codes
  • Operate and sanitize equipment safely
  • Comply with FSMA, HACCP, health and sanitation, and Organic standards
  • Arrive on time, wear appropriate PPE, complete trainings, and attend meetings
  • Willingness to work rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk at least 8 hours and perform frequent physical activities such as pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching
  • Able to work independently and with others

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in bench hand production and all aspects of bread production
  • Thorough knowledge of baking ingredients, equipment, weights, and measures
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent math skills including ability to do “on the fly math”
  • Basic computer and software skills
  • Ability to take direction
  • Ability to taste and evaluate all products to judge quality
  • Able to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision
  • Able to learn the proper and safe usage of Hobart mixer and baler and all other knives and kitchen production equipment

Job Duties

  • Mix doughs correctly and weigh/measure accurately using scales
  • Be very accurate in mixing, dividing, shaping, proofing, and baking to ensure consistency in daily production
  • Understand and follow all recipes and instructions
  • Follow production schedule
  • Clean work areas, mixers, and utensils
  • Work with PLUs and UPC codes
  • Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner including mixers, water chiller/dispenser, and all other equipment
  • Comply with established procedures including FSMA, HACCP, health and sanitation, and Organic standards
  • Arrive to work on time, wear appropriate PPE, complete required trainings, and attend required meetings
