Job Description

T&T Supermarkets is a leading Asian grocery store in Canada, proudly serving customers for over 30 years and recognized as Canada’s favorite destination for authentic Asian foods and products. Recently, T&T Supermarkets announced its inaugural store location in the United States, marking a significant milestone in its expansion efforts. This expansion brings promising new opportunities for growth and employment as the company launches its first US flagship store in 2024. Located in Bellevue, Washington at the Marketplace at Factoria, this flagship store will span an impressive 76,000 square feet, establishing itself as the largest Asian specialty supermarket in the state. With plans to further increase their presence, T&T Supermarkets is also planning to open a regional office in the greater Los Angeles area aimed at expanding their vendor base with American food suppliers, which reflects their commitment to blending authentic Asian offerings with local market trends.

The role of Baker at T&T Supermarkets is a critical one within the Bakery Department where quality, creativity, and leadership meet. Reporting directly to the Bakery Department Head and working under the close supervision of the Pastry Chef, the Baker will play an essential role in guiding and supervising the Bakery Production Associates. The Baker will also be expected to set a positive example through their work ethic and professional standards. In this role, the Baker will be responsible for creating detailed production schedules that specify the types and quantities of bakery goods to be produced. This includes planning and preparing ingredients and doughs for a diverse range of products such as bread, cakes, rolls, mousse, puddings, sweet goods, batters, icings, and frostings, following standard operating procedures or fulfilling special customer orders.

In addition to baking, the Baker is tasked with controlling product quality, managing inventory levels, and minimizing wastage according to established standards. Overseeing the mixing processes of flour, dough, cake mixes, and other baking ingredients is a key function, as is supervising the entire baking production workflow. Providing clear guidance, equitable work distribution, scheduling, and hands-on training for the Bakery Production team fall under the Baker’s supervisory responsibilities. The position also encourages innovation by having the Baker participate in new product research and development efforts. The role demands vigilance in ordering and replenishing supplies as necessary while maintaining workplace safety, hygiene, and equipment upkeep within the production area. Job Requirements

  • accountable, pleasant and able to take initiative
  • possess knowledge and 1-2 years of experience in making bakery products (bread, cake and/or other pastries), including dough mixing, cake cutting and decorating
  • possess knowledge in workplace health and safety and food safety (FoodSafe Certification requires)
  • have knowledge and experience in supervising bakery production workflow and controlling cost and wastage
  • ability to manage and train employees
  • able to communicate in English
  • proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is advantageous
  • flexible to work in various shifts, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, morning, and evening hours
  • have a good understanding of tools and equipment relevant to the job

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • supervise the baking production processes
  • provide guidance and supervision to the Bakery Production team, ensure fair distribution of work, and ensure proper scheduling is done
  • provide training to Bakery Production Associates and provide feedback on staff performance
  • participate in new product research and development process, encourage innovations
  • order and replenish inventory as and when required
  • responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene, equipment, and tools maintenance follow up and workplace safety of the production area
