We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Baker who is an "early-bird" ready to greet the dough each morning as part of our bake team in Portland, ME. This full-time position is perfect for someone who loves early mornings and values having afternoons free. The ideal candidate enjoys working behind-the-scenes, preparing delicious baked goods that bring joy to our customers. While previous food prep or baking experience is preferred, we are open to training passionate individuals with a strong drive to deliver quality and consistency. As a baker at The Works, your day will start predawn with early morning shifts from 2:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., allowing you to efficiently prepare and bake our signature items such as bagels, artisan breads, and other breads and sweets. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the high food safety standards that our customers trust, managing inventory, and ensuring a seamless baking operation.

The position demands a great deal of organization, the ability to follow instructions, plan ahead, and a strong attention to detail. Weekend availability is a must as is the stamina to stand and walk for over 8 hours during shifts. Physical requirements include the ability to reach, bend, balance, and transport baked goods throughout the bakery.
