We are currently seeking a passionate and driven Baker to join our Culinary team at The Hanover Inn. This role is ideal for someone who is creative, motivated, and eager to grow their culinary talents in a professional kitchen environment. The Baker will play a key role in producing a variety of baked goods from scratch, working closely with the culinary leadership team to develop menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and the unique concept of the restaurant. As a Baker, the successful candidate will assist the Chef in preparing breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, and other baked products for various dining services including kitchen preparation, cafeteria, banquets, and fine dining rooms. The role involves maintaining adequate production levels, regulating oven drafts and temperatures, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Candidates must have prior experience in a professional kitchen setting and demonstrate a strong desire to learn and contribute creatively to the culinary offerings.

  • able to work a variety of day, night and weekend shifts

  • able to work independently
  • able to be on feet for long periods of time
  • able to lift at least 50 pounds
  • previous experience in a professional kitchen environment

Job Duties

  • Follows recipes and/or product directions to prepare items from scratch such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, etc.
  • places products into correctly prepared pans
  • regulates the drafts and temperatures of the ovens
  • places items in ovens
  • removes baked items from ovens and applies appropriate toppings
  • may clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training
  • complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures
  • reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
  • participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
  • complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures
  • attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated
  • may perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
