Job Description
Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized leader in the coffee industry, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and community connection. Founded with a vision to create a different kind of company, Starbucks has grown into a brand that celebrates rich coffee traditions while fostering a unique culture of service and leadership. Starbucks Reserve represents the pinnacle of this vision, showcasing rare and exotic coffee offerings at flagship locations and culinary kitchens across the United States. The Reserve brand is synonymous with craftsmanship, excellence, and the art of coffee, creating a distinctive and immersive experience for customers who seek exceptional quality and unique flavors.
Starbucks Reserve Kitchens are dynamic culinary environments where skilled artisans craft fresh, high-quality food items, including pastries, cakes, focaccia-style pizzas, and artisanal breads. These kitchens serve as a hub for culinary ambassadors who are passionate about delivering consistent, handcrafted food offerings that pair perfectly with Starbucks’ premium coffee selections. The Baker Lead role within the Starbucks Reserve Kitchen is pivotal in upholding this standard of excellence. This position is both a leadership and hands-on baking role that involves supervising the baking team, managing inventory, supporting production planning, and ensuring adherence to quality and sanitation standards.
As a Baker Lead at Starbucks Reserve Kitchen, you will play an essential role in delivering outstanding bakery products by preparing breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, and various pastries. Beyond baking, you will lead bakery partners by providing on-the-job training, coaching, and supporting their development in the absence of the management team. This leadership role also involves assisting with hiring and onboarding, coordinating daily production schedules, ensuring accurate ingredient measurements, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. The Baker Lead must embody Starbucks’ principles and corporate policies, serving as a role model for professionalism, quality, and customer service.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with at least three years of baking and pastry experience in a commercial kitchen setting and one year of supervisory experience. The role requires strong knowledge of ingredient handling, production processes, and inventory management. It demands someone who is organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and able to work quickly while maintaining high standards. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights consistently. Starbucks offers a supportive and inclusive environment that values diversity and fosters growth through comprehensive training and development programs.
In addition to a competitive employment package, Starbucks provides its partners with extensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave, vacation accrual, sick time, and eligibility for a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching. Partners have access to educational opportunities such as tuition coverage through the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, as well as financial well-being resources. The company recognizes the importance of work-life balance and offers benefits like backup care and paid holidays. Starbucks is committed to equal employment opportunity and reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities, making it a great workplace for diverse talent who are passionate about bakery and coffee culture.
