The Lead Baker role at Aramark is a critical position responsible for overseeing and executing baking and culinary operations in compliance with established recipes, production guidelines, and food safety standards. This role requires a skilled culinary professional capable of preparing a variety of baked goods and food items while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service. As a Lead Baker, you will manage daily work assignments, train and guide kitchen staff, and ensure that all food preparation meets Aramark’s quality and safety protocols. The position demands hands-on involvement in baking, roasting, broiling, steaming, and other cooking methods utilizing various kitchen equipment such as ovens, mixers, fryers, and grills.

In addition to the technical baking skills, the Lead Baker holds a supervisory responsibility, coordinating the workflow within the food service team and ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. This includes setting up workstations, measuring and preparing ingredients, handling knives and utensils safely, and maintaining cleanliness in all culinary work areas. Aramark emphasizes customer service, so the Lead Baker must consistently demonstrate a positive demeanor towards guests, co-workers, and clients. This role also requires adherence to Aramark’s safety policies, including proper food handling, sanitation procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Experience as a baker or cook required
  • ability to work independently with limited supervision required
  • proven knowledge of food preparation principles and food safety regulations
  • required to obtain food safety certification(s)
  • basic math and counting skills
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking or standing
  • willingness to wear uniforms or personal protective equipment (PPE)

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a supervisor in a related role preferred
  • experience as a baker or cook required
  • ability to work independently with limited supervision required
  • proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
  • required to obtain food safety certification(s)
  • demonstrates basic math and counting skills
  • demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Job Duties

  • Schedules and assigns daily work assignments to a food service team and oversees the completion of tasks
  • trains and guides staff on job duties, proper food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods, etc
  • cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
  • operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc.
  • bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods
  • arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines
  • properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
  • cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers
  • adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
