The Lead Baker at Aramark plays a vital role in the culinary operations by preparing food according to standardized recipes and production guidelines while ensuring strict adherence to food safety, handling, and sanitation protocols. This position requires expertise in safely using kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, and knives. The Lead Baker may also oversee or delegate responsibilities within the culinary team, guiding and training staff in their respective duties. This role entails scheduling daily work assignments, managing food preparation workstations, and producing high-quality bakery items using various cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. Additionally, the Lead Baker ensures that all food items are properly garnished and portioned, and that food storage complies with safety policies. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitization of the workspace and equipment is a key responsibility as well. This position demands a strong commitment to excellent customer service and professionalism when interacting with guests, clients, and coworkers. The role may involve physical activity such as lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking, and adherence to safety guidelines including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms is mandatory. Job Requirements
- Experience as a baker or cook required
- ability to work independently with limited supervision required
- required to obtain food safety certification(s)
- demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- may be required to lift, bend, push, pull and/or stand or walk for extended periods
- willing to wear uniforms and/or personal protective equipment (PPE)
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a supervisor in a related role preferred
- experience as a baker or cook required
- ability to work independently with limited supervision required
- proven knowledge of the basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage
- required to obtain food safety certification(s)
- demonstrates basic math and counting skills
- demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Job Duties
- Schedules and assigns daily work assignments to a food service team and oversees the completion of tasks
- trains and guides staff on job duties, proper food safety and sanitation procedures, cooking methods, etc
- cooks and prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
- sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
- prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
- safely uses a variety of utensils including knives
- operates equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, etc
- bakes, roasts, broils, steams, and uses a variety of cooking methods
- arranges, garnishes, and portions of food according to established guidelines
- properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures
- cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils
- maintains excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, and co-workers
- adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation
