Job Description

Bon Appetit Management Company is a leading foodservice management company that operates over 1,000 cafes across the United States. The company is hiring immediately for a full-time Baker position located at Edwards Lifesciences, 1462 Alton Parkway, Irvine, CA 92614. This role offers competitive pay ranging from $19.50 to $20.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday with early morning hours that may vary; additional scheduling details will be provided during the interview process. The position is ideal for candidates with previous baking experience seeking to work in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

As a Baker at Bon Appetit, you will be responsible for preparing various baked goods such as breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and pastries according to specific recipes and production plans. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure that high standards of food quality, presentation, portion control, and safety regulations are met consistently. This role requires a hands-on approach to baking, including mixing ingredients, monitoring oven times, and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of workstations and equipment.

The Baker will contribute to production planning to meet daily requirements and assist in maintaining production records that track waste, usage, and shortages. Maintaining proper sanitation and adhering to food safety guidelines and OSHA standards will be a core component of your duties to safeguard both customers and staff.

Customer interaction is also an important aspect of this role. You will engage with customers in a friendly, professional manner, resolving concerns and communicating feedback to supervisors, thereby contributing to an outstanding customer service experience.

Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
  • assist in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • ensure proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
  • assist with the completion of production records including waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • inform supervisor when supplies are low
  • ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • handle food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service
  • clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • keep display equipment clean and free of debris
  • interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner
  • relay relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors
  • consistently exhibit ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
  • check to ensure all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
  • follow principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
  • complete shift work in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards
  • perform other duties as assigned
