The company is currently seeking passionate and enthusiastic Cafe Team Members to join their dynamic team. This part-time, non-exempt role offers $21.30 per hour plus tips, with average tips ranging from $7.00 to $9.00 per hour. The position requires schedule flexibility including the ability to work early morning bake shifts starting at 3:00 AM, as well as weekend and holiday availability, reflecting the bakery's commitment to serving customers every day of the year.
The Cafe Team Member plays an essential role in delivering the exceptional experience that patrons expect at Grand Central Bakery. They are responsible for preparing and serving delicious food and beverages, including expertly made sandwiches, coffee, and espresso drinks with an emphasis on quality and consistency even during busy periods. This role requires proficiency across multiple cafe stations such as the sandwich bar and barista station, along with familiarity and competence in operating the Point-of-Sale system. A strong customer service orientation is vital, as Cafe Team Members engage directly with the public, ensuring every guest receives attentive, friendly service following the bakery's customer service standards.
Team members are expected to contribute actively to maintaining a clean and safe cafe environment by performing tasks such as bussing tables, washing dishes, and following all cleaning protocols. Job Requirements
- Must be able to start work as early as 3:00 AM for bake shifts
- Schedule flexibility including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Basic math skills
- Professionalism and positive personality with customers
- Ability to stay thoughtfully busy regardless of customer flow
Job Duties
- Proficient on Point-of-Sale system
- Serves bread and pastry to customers ensuring both meet GCB specs
- Makes and serves all sandwiches according to GCB specs including during a rush
- Makes and serves all coffee and espresso drinks according to GCB specs including during a rush and is proficient at latte art
- Displays product knowledge of all items on menus
- Knows and regularly works multiple shifts including Retail Open, Retail Close, and Mid/Swing shifts
- Maintains a clean cafe environment including bussing, washing dishes, and cleaning tasks
- Volunteers and assists teammates with duties
- Adheres to proper cash handling procedures with accuracy
- Uses checklists and training documents to gain proficiency with cafe systems
- Acts in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Grand Central Bakery
- Works collaboratively and communicates respectfully with teammates
- Delivers excellent customer service following the 3 steps to great service
- Maintains competencies and continuously applies skills
