The Baker position at Great Western Dining's Southeast Community College - Lincoln location is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced baking professional. This role focuses on producing a broad array of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cookies, and specialty items with high attention to detail and quality. The Baker will play a crucial role in maintaining the standards of cleanliness and food safety in a fast-paced production environment. This is a full-time position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm, making it ideal for individuals who thrive in early morning shifts and team-oriented settings. The role entails not only consistent baking duties but also assisting in recipe development and ensuring all equipment and work areas meet sanitation guidelines. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
one to two years experience in baking or bakery background preferred
ability to work early morning shifts
physical ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place items up to 75 pounds without assistance
ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods
commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
ability to follow detailed instructions and food safety protocols

Job Qualifications

One to two years baking experience or bakery background preferred
high school diploma or equivalent
formal culinary or baking training preferred
knowledge of yeasts and pre-ferments encouraged
customer service orientation
dependable and reliable
ability to make desserts from scratch
experience in production line baking or food processing
knowledgeable about proper food handling and safety guidelines
detail oriented with ability to perform simple math and follow recipe directions

Job Duties

Produce standard baked goods such as cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins and various types of puddings
assist in developing new recipes and menu items
unload, clean and operate mixers
maintain all daily production, sanitation sheets and applicable forms
assist with cleaning kitchen and maintaining sanitary work area
meet or exceed all established HACCP sanitation and safety standards
work collaboratively with kitchen or bakery staff to meet production deadlines
perform other duties as assigned
