Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in integrated food services and facilities management, committed to enhancing the quality of life for the communities it serves. Operating in various sectors such as education, healthcare, corporate, and more, Sodexo offers a comprehensive range of services that improve daily experiences for both customers and employees. With a culture deeply rooted in respect, diversity, and inclusion, Sodexo values every individual, encouraging them to be their authentic selves while fostering growth and well-being.
The Baker position at Sodexo is based at Marquette University's bakery location, a full-time role offering a competitive hourly wage of $18.10. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about baking and culinary arts, who seek to contribute to a team dedicated to delivering high-quality bakery products. The work schedule primarily involves morning shifts with varying days, details of which will be shared during the interview process. This role is not suited for university students with limited working hours; they are encouraged to look for student worker positions at their respective institutions.
As a Baker at Sodexo, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of baked goods such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries from scratch, adhering strictly to Sodexo's culinary standards and recipes. Precision is vital, as you will be measuring ingredients accurately, mixing doughs and batters either by hand or using mixers, shaping and cutting dough, and baking items to perfection. Maintaining optimal oven temperatures and monitoring baking times are essential tasks to ensure every product meets quality standards.
Your responsibilities extend to managing the bake shop environment by setting up and stocking the area, ensuring proper storage, rotation, labeling, and dating of bakery items, and keeping the workspace clean and organized. Attention to detail, accommodating special dietary or client requests, and guaranteeing that only premium quality baked products leave the kitchen are critical performance metrics. Physical demands of the role include the ability to walk or stand for long periods, frequent mobility, and handling moderate to heavy lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Sodexo offers a supportive and flexible work environment that values employees' work-life balance. Opportunities for ongoing professional development and career advancement are widely available, reflecting the company's commitment to turning jobs into fulfilling careers. Comprehensive benefits support the well-being of the employees and their families, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, and various discount programs. Additional location-specific benefits may include free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, public transportation support, or parking.
Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a purpose-driven company dedicated to creating a better everyday life for all and contributing positively to the social and environmental progress of the communities it serves. Sodexo is an equal opportunity employer that fosters a culture of belonging and values diversity in all its forms. Every employee is respected, and ideas and opinions are actively encouraged to strengthen the team and promote happiness at work.
