Job Description
Bruegger's Bagels is a well-established bagel bakery and café chain known for its commitment to authentic New York-style bagels and genuine, made-in-Vermont cream cheese. With over 35 years of history, Bruegger's has built a strong reputation by focusing on quality and tradition. This company values its employees greatly and is proud to maintain a workplace culture that prioritizes work-life balance. Bruegger's stores close early at 2 PM, allowing team members to enjoy their personal lives, whether attending a child's dance recital or a special concert. This aspect highlights the brand's dedication not only to customers but to the well-being and satisfaction of its employees. The company is headquartered with locations such as 3116 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina, 27401, reflecting its presence in thriving communities.
The position being offered is that of a Baker, an essential role that sits at the heart of Bruegger's operations. Bakers at Bruegger’s start their days early—often as early as 3 AM. The primary responsibility is kettle cooking bagels to perfection, ensuring that every product meets the high standards set by the company. The Baker's role involves preparing the famous bagels that customers have come to love over decades. Beyond baking, Bakers contribute to overall store success by stocking bagel walls and pastry cases, working collaboratively as part of the team to provide excellent guest services, taking orders, and assisting with sandwich assembly. The role also requires maintaining a clean and safe environment within the store, reflecting the brand’s focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
Baking at Bruegger's is not just a job but a craft, with Bakers often tuning into podcasts or music during their early morning shifts to create a motivating work atmosphere. This role offers more than just a paycheck; it offers a fulfilling career path where team members can grow and rise, much like the bagels they bake. The shift ends by mid-afternoon, with no evening or night shifts, emphasizing the company's strong commitment to work-life balance. Competitive pay is offered along with cash and credit card tips. Additional benefits include paid time off, an Employee Assistance Program providing free therapy and financial or legal advice, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Bruegger’s also offers Life coaching and wellness webinars through Learn To Live to support mental health and wellbeing.
Candidates interested must be prepared for a physically active position involving sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently throughout their shifts. The job description is flexible and may evolve over time based on business needs. Bruegger's is an equal opportunity employer, committed to fair treatment regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other legally protected status. Overall, this is an ideal opportunity for individuals who love baking, enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, and value a company that genuinely cares for its employees and their lifestyle balance.
