As a Baker at Sodexo working at Champlain College, you will play an essential role in preparing high-quality baked goods that meet strict culinary standards. The role involves following precise recipes and production specifications to produce items such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries. Your commitment to quality and attention to detail ensures that all baked items consistently deliver superior taste and appearance, pleasing the guests served. This role requires hands-on skills in measuring ingredients, mixing doughs and batters either by hand or using mixers, shaping and cutting dough, as well as regulating oven temperatures and monitoring baking times.

The baker will also be responsible for maintaining an organized and clean bake shop area, ensuring proper storage, rotation, labeling, and dating of baked products to comply with food safety standards. The position demands physical stamina such as walking or standing for extended periods during shifts that may exceed eight hours and the ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds occasionally. Being punctual and reliable for scheduled shifts is essential as is the willingness to adapt to other duties as assigned based on client needs. Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Check daily production schedules and follow recipes to prepare a variety of baked goods from scratch such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries
  • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients, mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer, shape and cut dough, and bake items to perfection
  • Regulate oven temperatures, monitor baking times, and ensure all products are prepared, held, and served at correct temperatures
  • Set up and stock the bake shop area, maintain proper storage, rotation, labeling, and dating of all products, and keep the bakery clean and organized
  • Pay close attention to detail, accommodate special requests, and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
  • Attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
