This full-time Baker position is based at Clark Atlanta University, serving under Sodexo’s banner. The role requires open availability as it involves working various shifts on a rotating basis. As a Baker, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of bakery items from scratch, following specific recipes and production schedules. The variety includes breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries. This role demands precision and attention to detail, from weighing and measuring ingredients accurately to mixing, shaping, and baking the products until they reach perfection in texture and flavor. Managing oven temperatures and baking times is critical to ensure consistently excellent results, while strict adherence to food safety and quality standards must be maintained at all times.

The work environment requires physical stamina and mobility. Bakers at Sodexo regularly stand or walk for extended periods, sometimes exceeding eight hours per shift. Physical tasks include reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The ability to use hands skillfully for handling ingredients, shaping dough, and tasting for quality control is essential.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 more years of related work experience
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Open availability for all shifts in rotation
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and production specifications
  • Ability to use hands to handle and manipulate baking ingredients and tools

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma GED or equivalent experience
  • 0 to 1 more years of related work experience
  • Experience in a specialized bakery or pastry role preferred

Job Duties

  • Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads rolls muffins biscuits cakes and pastries
  • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer shape and cut dough and bake items to perfection
  • Regulate oven temperatures monitor baking times and ensure all products are prepared held and served at correct temperatures
  • Set up and stock the bake shop area maintain proper storage rotation labeling and dating of all products and keep the bakery clean and organized
  • Pay close attention to detail accommodate special requests and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Must be able to use hands to finger handle feel reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time throughout the entire duration of a shift which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach bend stoop push and or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift move 50 pounds
  • Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
