Job Description
The hiring company is a well-established bakery known for its commitment to producing high-quality baked goods using scratch baking methods. As a production-oriented scratch bakery, they take pride in crafting a variety of artisanal and traditional bakery items such as breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes, biscuits, and other pastries. The bakery operates in a non-smoking environment and emphasizes adherence to natural food standards, maintaining strict company policies to ensure every product meets consistent quality and ingredient standards. The company fosters a safe and clean working environment and utilizes modern bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, scalers, sheeters, dough dividers, and more to support the baking process.
This full-time role offers an established schedule working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing a stable work routine for prospective employees. The salary range for this position is between $16 and $18 per hour, reflecting the importance of hands-on experience and the technical skills required in a bakery setting.
The role of the baker is vital to the daily operations of the bakery. The baker will be responsible for preparing dough and baking mixtures from scratch following established recipes and company procedures. This includes crafting a diverse range of bakery products at batch scale, ensuring they meet the bakery's high-quality standards. The position involves working collaboratively with team members to manage production schedules effectively to avoid overproduction or underproduction while meeting customer demands. The baker will also take special orders including those tailored for specific dietary needs. This role requires a keen eye for quality control, proper labeling according to natural food standards, and an ability to assist in inventory management by verifying goods received and ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.
In addition to the core baking responsibilities, the baker is expected to contribute to product development by helping create new baked goods, reflecting the company’s innovative spirit in the market. Communication skills are essential as the role includes taking bakery orders by phone and accurately completing order forms. Maintenance and cleanliness of the work environment are critical aspects of the job, with the baker responsible for notifying management about equipment issues and following OSHA guidelines to preserve a safe workplace.
Candidates for this role should possess technical skills specific to the bakery industry and demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, direct, and control bakery operations independently and as part of a team. The baker should be comfortable reading profit and loss statements and operating computers to support daily activities. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 60 pounds, as well as bending, grasping, and operating various bakery equipment safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for an individual passionate about baking who seeks to join a dynamic bakery team focused on quality and customer satisfaction.
