Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Baker to join our culinary team at Missouri State University. This position is integral to supporting our campus food services by preparing a wide array of baked goods including breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and various pastries in accordance with established recipes and production requirements. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about baking and possess the ability to effectively meet daily production goals while adhering to food safety standards and quality controls.

As a Baker, you will play a crucial role in crafting delicious bakery items that enhance our campus dining experience. You will collaborate closely with production planners to ensure the timely preparation of baked products and maintain accurate production records such as waste tracking and inventory management. Your responsibilities will also involve managing equipment and workstation cleanliness to uphold health standards, interacting with customers professionally, and addressing any concerns with a customer-oriented approach. This position offers a competitive pay range of $15.00 to $18.00 per hour, reflecting the importance we place on skillful culinary craftsmanship and consistent performance.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in baking preferred
  • ability to work varied day shifts
  • physical ability to handle bakery equipment and stand for extended periods

  • ability to communicate effectively with team and customers
  • eligibility to work in the United States

Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per provided production and catering sheets
  • assist in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • ensure proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes and prescribed production standards
  • assist with completion of production records including waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • inform supervisor when supplies are low
  • ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • handle food items appropriately with safety regulations during preparation and service
  • clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving area
  • keep display equipment clean and free of debris
  • interact with customers and resolve complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner
  • relay customer concerns to supervisors
  • keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
  • check that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
  • follow principles of sanitation and safety according to corporate and OSHA guidelines
  • complete shift work in a timely and thorough manner
  • perform other duties as assigned
