As a Baker at Sodexo, specifically serving the ADLAI E. STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL location, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality baked goods that meet Sodexo's culinary standards. This full-time position offers a competitive pay range of $16.50 to $18.00 per hour, with varying shifts and open availability preferred. The role requires preparation of a variety of baked items, including breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries, strictly following Sodexo recipes and production schedules. As part of your daily duties, you will be responsible for measuring ingredients accurately, mixing doughs and batters, regulating oven temperatures, and ensuring that all products are baked to perfection in terms of both taste and appearance.

You will also manage the setup and stocking of the bake shop area, maintain proper storage and rotation of products, and ensure the bakery is kept clean and organized. Attention to detail is crucial as you accommodate special requests and maintain high standards so that only top-quality bakery items leave the kitchen. The physical demands of the position include significant walking, standing for extended periods, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. This role requires manual dexterity and the ability to use your senses of taste and smell to ensure product excellence.

Job Duties

  • check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads rolls muffins biscuits cakes and pastries
  • accurately weigh and measure ingredients mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer shape and cut dough and bake items to perfection
  • regulate oven temperatures monitor baking times and ensure all products are prepared held and served at correct temperatures
  • set up and stock the bake shop area maintain proper storage rotation labeling and dating of all products and keep the bakery clean and organized
  • pay close attention to detail accommodate special requests and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
  • perform significant walking or other means of mobility
  • use hands to finger handle feel reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
  • walk or stand for extended periods of time throughout the entire duration of a shift
  • reach bend stoop push and or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds occasionally lift move 50 pounds
  • attend work and show for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
