Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous food service experience required
  • Current food safety training certificate required
  • Ability to read and speak English and Spanish preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use department equipment properly
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
  • Basic mathematical skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous food service experience
  • Current food safety training certificate with renewal every three years
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English and Spanish preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use department equipment properly
  • Takes responsibility for own actions
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including holidays and weekends
  • Basic mathematical skills including weights and measures
  • Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness

Job Duties

  • Light the gas ovens and check for gas leaks upon arrival
  • Bake bread, pastries, or other bakery items as needed
  • Prepare flan, custards, rice pudding, or other bakery items
  • Place loaves of bread into bags and display for sale, restocking when necessary
  • Maintain awareness of floor conditions and ensure all safety measures are followed
  • Restock food displays and retrieve food from back room, kitchen, and cooler
  • Maintain sanitary work area in compliance with federal, state, local, and company health, safety, and sanitation codes
  • Keep work area clean and orderly
  • Wash, sanitize, and store kitchen utensils properly
  • Use kitchen equipment according to guidelines and report repairs as needed
  • Report all accidents promptly
  • Assist the head cook as needed
  • Ensure safety when handling hot trays
  • Maintain cleanliness standards using gloves when warranted
  • Prepare bread dough during evening shifts for the following morning
  • Attend and participate in department or store meetings
  • Ensure punctuality and good attendance
  • Perform other work-related duties as required
