Job Description
Sodexo is a global leader in quality of life services, operating in various sectors including food service, facilities management, and integrated solutions. With a commitment to improving the daily lives of the people it serves, Sodexo is dedicated to delivering excellence through its comprehensive service offerings. The company values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all employees, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment where individuals can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
This particular position is for a full-time Baker at Gonzaga University, with pay ranging from $17.13 to $19.00 per hour. The role demands open availability as shifts can vary, and more specific scheduling details will be discussed during the interview process. As a Baker with Sodexo, the individual will be responsible for preparing a range of baked goods from scratch, following precise recipes and production instructions that adhere strictly to Sodexo's culinary standards. This ensures all pastry and bakery items meet the highest standards in both taste and presentation, aiming to satisfy diverse guest preferences.
The baker will work closely with production schedules, using measured ingredients to mix doughs and batters by hand or with mixers, and accurately baking items like breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries to perfection. Attention to detail is critical, especially in regulating oven temperatures and baking times, monitoring storage conditions, and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the bake shop. The role also requires accommodating special requests and ensuring that only quality products leave the kitchen.
Physical demands include the ability to stand or walk for extended shifts, sometimes exceeding eight hours, and performing manual tasks such as lifting weights up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. The role requires good sensory abilities such as touch, smell, and taste to ensure quality control.
Working at Sodexo provides more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a company that values purpose and personal growth. Employees gain access to ongoing training, career advancement opportunities, and a supportive environment that places importance on work-life balance. Benefits include paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, discount programs, and other employee-oriented perks. Some locations also offer additional site-specific benefits like free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, and transportation support.
At Sodexo, the culture emphasizes respect, inclusion, and embracing individuality. Employees are encouraged to share ideas and feel valued within their teams. Sodexo is committed to equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. Overall, this role offers a meaningful career opportunity for someone passionate about baking, quality food preparation, and working in a team-oriented, supportive environment.
