Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently
  • Visual acuity with or without correction
  • Ability to perform physical activities including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to adhere to safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Over six months up to one year of related baking or bakery experience
  • Department training is beneficial

Job Duties

  • Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern and patience
  • Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner
  • Learn and address customers by name when possible
  • Assist customers by escorting to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading or unloading heavy goods, noting and passing along suggestions
  • Answer telephone promptly and provide helpful service including taking product orders
  • Check daily orders and set up production schedule
  • Prepare, bake and fry all bakery products as needed
  • Review products for freshness and pull stale items
  • Invoice and put away products as instructed
  • Anticipate product needs for current and coming days
  • Inspect incoming product quality and quantity
  • Understand bakery equipment use and report maintenance issues
  • Check signage and labels on advertised items
  • Review department for safety hazards
  • Operate as lead with bakery clerks
  • Prioritize orders according to requests
  • Proof items and pull from freezer or cooler
  • Practice proper sanitation procedures and maintain cleanliness
  • Adhere to hygiene and dress guidelines
  • Follow company policies and store guidelines
  • Report to work on time
  • Order supplies and merchandise as directed
  • Review and re-merchandise shelves, discard outdated items
  • Write and manage department schedule in bakery manager's absence
  • Assist in other store areas as needed
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required
