ESS Support Services Worldwide operates predominantly in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, establishing itself as a leading support service provider within the mining and offshore industries. Currently, ESS Support Services is hiring for full-time Baker positions at their mining camps located at 201 Post Road, Anchorage, AK. These positions require candidates to have a Food Worker Card and relevant experience to qualify. The pay range varies from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding skilled professionals in the culinary field. This role involves preparing a variety of baked goods including breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries. Bakers will follow detailed recipes and production specifications to accommodate daily production plans. They are expected to maintain high standards for food quality, portion control, and presentation to ensure customer satisfaction.

As a Baker, the successful candidate will also handle inventory management by assisting in production record-keeping and waste tracking tasks while communicating low supply situations to supervisors. Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment is crucial, and Bakers will be responsible for ensuring all equipment, supplies, and utensils are maintained according to company and OSHA safety standards. The role requires a proactive approach in handling customer interactions and resolving complaints in a professional and courteous manner. ESS emphasizes calmness, accuracy, and efficiency especially during peak production times and service periods. Aside from baking duties, the position involves completing assigned shift work thoroughly and timely, with additional duties delegated as needed.

Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
  • Assists in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
  • Assists with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • Informs supervisor when supplies are low
  • Ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • Handles foods items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service
  • Cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
  • Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris
  • Interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner
  • Relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors
  • Consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
  • Checks to ensure that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
  • Follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
  • Completes shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
