The Bakery Associate position at Yoke's is designed to provide a pleasant and efficient bakery experience for every guest. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three months related experience and/or training
- Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly with guests and team members
- Valid State Food Handlers Permit
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Understanding of bakery safety and sanitation standards
- Completion of required company trainings
- Adherence to safety protocols and workplace policies
- Reliability and punctuality
- Positive attitude and ability to foster a welcoming atmosphere
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to safely operate bakery equipment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
- Writes simple correspondence
- Communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates
- Performs mathematical skills using American money, weight measurement, and volume
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions and manages problems in standardized situations
- Meets state requirements for working with bakery equipment and tools
- Holds valid State Food Handlers Permit
- Holds valid Driver's License or State ID
- Completion of company provided training including active shooter, bakery skills training levels one through three, food handler's safety training, HIPAA training, late night retail safety training, safety orientation, and guest service training
- Optional hepatitis A vaccination provided by Yoke's Pharmacy
Job Duties
- Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service
- Promoting sales by providing guests with high-quality products consistent with company formulas and ensuring appropriate stock levels
- Providing exceptional guest service using skills from company-specific training
- Finishing par bake products, labeling, rotating, writing on cakes, and ordering
- Maintaining proficiency in producing a variety of bakery items including raised donuts, cakes, muffins, cookies, pies, seasonal and artisan bread dough
- Operating bakery equipment safely and correctly such as ovens, fryers, slicers, sheeters, and glazers
- Ensuring quality control by observing product color, weight, and production accuracy
- Receiving and inspecting deliveries
- Handling special guest orders accurately and timely
- Mentoring new associates and fostering a positive learning environment
- Adhering to all safety, sanitation, and company policies regarding workplace and food handling safety
- Participating actively in the department’s accident reduction and cleanliness plans
