Job Description
Dexterra Group is a distinguished company with more than 75 years of experience in supporting infrastructure and built assets that are essential to society. Originating from independently founded companies, Dexterra Group has evolved into a leading organization known for delivering top-tier facility and infrastructure management services. They pride themselves on combining passionate teams with the right skillsets and regional expertise to ensure that companies operate smoothly and efficiently in their day-to-day operations. As a reliable partner, Dexterra Group helps clients achieve improved performance and productivity, addressing complex operational challenges with innovative solutions and dedicated support.
The company is currently hiring a Baker for one of its workforce accommodations facilities. This critical position entails overseeing the end-to-end bakery operations, ensuring the consistent production and supply of baked goods for daily meal service. Initially supporting around 500 guests per day with expectations to scale to over 4,000 guests, the Baker must maintain product quality and availability amid rapid operational growth. Reporting to the Executive Chef or their delegate, the role demands accountability for baking production, quality control, food safety compliance, and supervising the night-shift bakery team. The Baker will also play a vital role in driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement in bakery functions.
The Baker's responsibilities include full oversight of bakery and pastry production involving bread, desserts, and goods made from scratch or par-baked ingredients. They provide hands-on leadership, mentoring night-shift employees and delivering on-the-job training. The position requires adherence to approved recipes and menus, maintaining quality and consistency while restocking pastry and bakery shelves to ensure freshness and visual appeal. Commitment to allergen-aware and diet-specific recipes is critical, along with compliance with food safety regulations such as FOODSAFE and HACCP.
Furthermore, the Baker must maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, manage product rotation, labeling, and storage, and collaborate closely with culinary leadership to align production with guest demand and service volume. This role requires a high degree of organizational skill, attention to detail, and a professional attitude marked by ownership and accountability, ensuring the bakery supports the catering operation effectively as it scales.
This exciting opportunity at Dexterra Group offers a challenging and rewarding environment for experienced bakers eager to contribute to a large-scale food service operation. The role is ideal for culinary professionals with baking specialization who thrive in high-volume settings, possess supervisory experience, and are committed to quality and food safety standards.
