The Bakery Assistant Baker role at Angel of the Winds Casino Resort offers a unique opportunity for skilled bakers to join a high-performing culinary team. This position involves assisting the Pastry Chef in creating quality baked goods while mentoring and coaching assistant bakers. The role requires advanced skills in high-volume scratch baking, including bread doughs, cakes, wedding cakes, and overall pastry decoration. Working in this fast-paced environment, the Assistant Baker is key to maintaining bakery inventory, forecasting usage, and ensuring compliance with portion control, kitchen safety, and hygiene standards. As an Assistant Baker, you will be actively engaged in training teammates on kitchen equipment usage and food safety guidelines while maintaining a clean and sanitary workstation. The job demands a proactive and detail-oriented approach to managing bakery operations, with strong communication skills vital for coordinating with the Pastry Chef and other kitchen staff. This position offers a starting wage of $24.00 per hour, reflecting the value of experience and expertise required to thrive in a busy resort bakery setting. The work schedule includes days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events, demonstrating the dynamic and ever-changing nature of hospitality operations. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Class B gaming license from Stillaguamish Tribal Gaming Agency
  • must be able to obtain and maintain Washington State Health Card (Food Worker Card)

Job Qualifications

  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • at least 2 years relevant experience baking large bulk batches
  • experience in high volume scratch baking including bread doughs, cake, wedding cake and pastry/cake decorating
  • highly detail oriented, punctual and reliable
  • ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced and multitasking environment
  • positive, willingness to learn, friendly and outgoing attitude
  • ability to work independently

Job Duties

  • Assist pastry chef in creating quality baked goods and coaching assistant baker
  • assist in forecasting usage based on set pars using product mix
  • assist in maintaining inventory of bakery supplies
  • comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen policies
  • set a good example for assistant baker and maintain a clean and sanitary workstation
  • report equipment and food quality problems to supervisor promptly
  • inform supervisor immediately of product shortages
  • use standard recipe cards for preparing products and add new recipes as requested
  • use all kitchen equipment following proper procedures and assist in training assistant bakers on equipment usage
  • communicate food usage and quality control with assistant baker and pastry chef
  • follow proper HAACP guidelines for handling, preparing, storing, and stocking food
  • attend all mandatory department, casino, or training meetings
  • follow all department and casino policies, procedures, and regulations
  • ensure compliance with Tribal, State, Federal, and NIGC regulations
  • ensure control and protection of company assets
  • work days, nights, weekends, special events, and holidays as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
