This full-time Baker position is based at Bellarmine University and offers a wage range between $7.25 and $23.44 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications. The role requires open availability for varying shifts and days, with further details to be provided during the interview process. University students with limited work hours, including international students, are encouraged to seek student worker roles instead.
As a Baker with Sodexo, you will be responsible for preparing baked goods following Sodexo’s recipes and culinary standards to ensure the highest quality in taste and appearance. This position involves making breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries from scratch while adhering closely to daily production schedules. You will accurately measure ingredients, mix, shape, and bake doughs to perfection, and carefully regulate oven temperatures and baking times. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bake shop area, proper storage, labeling, and rotation of products is essential. You will also accommodate special requests and ensure that every baked product leaving the kitchen meets high-quality standards.
The role demands physical stamina, including the ability to stand or walk for extended periods (often over eight hours), handle various baking equipment, and lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Attention to detail and punctuality are critical traits required for success. Job Duties
- Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads rolls muffins biscuits cakes and pastries
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer shape and cut dough and bake items to perfection
- Regulate oven temperatures monitor baking times and ensure all products are prepared held and served at correct temperatures
- Set up and stock the bake shop area maintain proper storage rotation labeling and dating of all products and keep the bakery clean and organized
- Pay close attention to detail accommodate special requests and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
- Significant walking or other means of mobility
- Must be able to use hands to finger handle feel reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time throughout the entire duration of a shift which may exceed 8 hours
- Ability to reach bend stoop push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
