The Baker position at Sodexo within Promedica Toledo Hospital is a part-time role that focuses on preparing a variety of baked goods that meet Sodexo's culinary standards for quality and consistency. Working afternoon and evening shifts with some weekend and holiday coverage, the Baker will be responsible for producing items such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, cakes, and pastries from scratch. This role involves following precise recipes and production schedules to ensure all products are made with accuracy, attention to detail, and proper food safety practices. The Baker must regulate oven temperatures, monitor baking times, and maintain product quality to guarantee that every baked item served is fresh, appealing, and delicious.

In addition to baking duties, the Baker will be expected to maintain a clean and organized work environment, including setting up and stocking the bake shop, managing proper storage and labeling of products, and adhering to health and safety standards. This position requires physical endurance as it involves standing for extended periods, walking, handling ingredients and baked goods, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. The ability to accommodate special dietary requests and ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality baked items is essential.

Job Duties

  • Check daily production schedules and follow Sodexo recipes to prepare a variety of baked items from scratch such as breads rolls muffins biscuits cakes and pastries
  • Accurately weigh and measure ingredients mix doughs and batters by hand or mixer shape and cut dough and bake items to perfection
  • Regulate oven temperatures monitor baking times and ensure all products are prepared held and served at correct temperatures
  • Set up and stock the bake shop area maintain proper storage rotation labeling and dating of all products and keep the bakery clean and organized
  • Pay close attention to detail accommodate special requests and ensure only high-quality baked items leave the kitchen
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility
  • Must be able to use hands to finger handle feel reach with hands and arms and taste or smell
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time throughout the entire duration of a shift which may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach bend stoop push and or pull and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift move 50 pounds
  • Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts depending on business necessities and client requirements
