The Bakery Clerk role at Sprouts Farmers Market is essential to delivering an extraordinary customer service experience while working in a busy and friendly environment. This role requires vigilance in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the bakery area, including equipment sanitation, floor care, and shelf organization.

Additionally, the Bakery Clerk is responsible for managing inventory by receiving, inspecting, and logging shipments, checking product quality and temperature, and ensuring timely rotation and removal of outdated items. The position demands physical stamina for tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting and transferring trays and items, and operating various bakery tools and equipment. Job Requirements

  • be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • be able to stand for up to 3 hours continuously for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • be able to lift and transfer trays up to 5 lbs vertically from 7 to 64 inches for up to 10 hours
  • be able to transfer items up to 40 lbs vertically and horizontally over distances up to 36 feet
  • adhere to safety, health, and weights and measures regulations
  • maintain a Food Handlers permit
  • perform general housekeeping and sanitation tasks regularly

Job Qualifications

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • have 1-2 years bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • demonstrate dependable and reliable work habits
  • possess outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude
  • have good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • be able to operate bakery tools and equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks

Job Duties

  • assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
  • provide a high level of customer service and ensure bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
  • maintain cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of the bakery area and equipment
  • stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy for bakery products while examining rotation and discarding outdated items
  • receive, inspect, and log products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality
  • answer phones and take special orders
  • perform general housekeeping in the department including cleaning and sanitizing work areas
