As a company, Polly's places great emphasis on maintaining its brand integrity by producing fresh, friendly, and exceptional products that consistently exceed customer expectations. The bakery specializes in a wide variety of offerings, including breads, rolls, cookies, breakfast items like quiche, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and seasonal fresh fruit toppings for pies, establishing itself as a favorite destination for bakery lovers. The environment at Polly's fosters teamwork, pride in craftsmanship, and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards. Polly's is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals receive fair consideration regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristics. Compensation for the baker role ranges from $16.00 to $22.00 per hour, reflecting the company's recognition of the skill and commitment required for producing quality baked goods.
The Baker role at Polly's is a vital position that demands passion, precision, and leadership. Bakers are entrusted with the responsibility to prepare an array of bakery products using established recipes and portions to ensure consistency and adherence to the Polly's brand standards. This role is hands-on with daily production management, requiring clear communication with the coaching team about product counts and operational status. The baker prepares breakfast items, breads, and seasonal fresh fruit, always ensuring products meet the bakery's quality standards. Strict adherence to cleanliness and sanitation protocols is essential, as bakers maintain the bake area, wash and sanitize equipment, and properly manage inventory by rotating and labeling ingredients and products to maintain freshness.
Beyond day-to-day baking tasks, bakers at Polly's must exhibit dependable leadership qualities, working independently while escalating issues when necessary. Flexibility is also crucial, as bakers may be cross-trained in other kitchen functions to support back-of-house operations. Shifts are varied and include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, requiring reliable availability. The role also involves preparing the kitchen for the day, checking deliveries, and ensuring the overall smooth operation of the bakery.
Candidates for this position should bring at least one year of relevant experience as a cook or baker or have enrollment in a culinary program. Skills in recipe measurements, usage of baking equipment like ovens and mixers, and adherence to food safety guidelines are essential. A valid Food Handlers Card may be required depending on local county regulations. Overall, this role offers an excellent opportunity for those passionate about baking and committed to producing quality culinary products in a dynamic and supportive environment.
