We are currently seeking a part-time Bakery Clerk to join our bakery team at Sprouts Farmers Market. This role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for baking, an eye for detail, and enjoy working in a bustling, team-oriented setting. The Bakery Clerk will be responsible for preparing, baking, packaging, and merchandising high-quality baked goods such as cookies, bread, and muffins using proven ingredients and recipes. This position requires a dedication to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the bakery area, ensuring food quality, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The Bakery Clerk works closely with the Bakery Manager to assist in a wide range of bakery operations including product preparation, packaging, pricing, and ensuring that all baked items are presented to customers in an appealing and hygienic manner. The role also involves stock management, product rotation, and receiving shipments to verify accuracy and quality. This position requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates reliability by maintaining a flexible schedule—including nights, weekends, and holidays—and interacts positively with customers and team members alike.

In addition to technical baking skills, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to follow directions, and work effectively as part of a team. Physical stamina is essential, as the job involves standing for prolonged periods, handling bakery trays, and transferring items without mechanical assistance. Commitment to adhering to food safety, health regulations, and acquiring a Food Handlers permit is also required.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • good communication skills
  • ability to operate bakery equipment safely
  • capable of standing for up to 8 hours per shift
  • able to transfer items up to 40 lbs without mechanical assistance
  • commitment to maintaining cleanliness and sanitation
  • ability to take direction and function well in a team environment
  • must adhere to safety and health regulations
  • Food Handlers permit required

Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • have 1-2 years bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • demonstrate dependability and reliability with the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • possess good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • show outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude
  • able to operate bakery equipment including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • able to stand for extended periods and transfer bakery trays and items safely
  • willing to adhere to all safety, health, and weights and measures regulations and obtain a Food Handlers permit

Job Duties

  • Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
  • provide a high level of customer service by ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
  • maintain cleanliness of the bakery department area including cleaning shelves, floors, and equipment
  • stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while managing product rotation and discarding outdated items
  • receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
  • operate bakery equipment safely including knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • answer phones and take special orders
