Job Description
Whole Foods Market is a leading natural and organic foods supermarket known for its commitment to quality, sustainability, and community involvement. Established in 1980, the company has grown into a major player within the grocery industry by setting high standards for excellence and redefining how food retailers operate. With stores across the United States and internationally, Whole Foods Market promotes a mission to nourish people and the planet through delivering fresh, healthy, and sustainably sourced products. Beyond just selling groceries, the company invests in community initiatives such as funding grants for school gardens and improving food access in underserved areas known as food deserts. Whole Foods Market is deeply engaged in social responsibility efforts, including alleviating poverty in developing countries and advocating for environmental stewardship. The workplace culture emphasizes growth, inclusivity, and meaningful impact, offering team members the chance to contribute to a larger mission that benefits local communities and the global ecosystem.
The position available is an Assistant Team Leader role within Whole Foods Market, designed to support daily store operations under the supervision of a Team Leader. This role is critical in maintaining the store’s success by overseeing aspects such as profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor scheduling, regulatory compliance, and leading special projects. Serving as a mentor and leader, the Assistant Team Leader helps develop team members by providing coaching, training, and motivation that fosters a high-performance environment. Key responsibilities include maintaining creative store layouts and merchandising strategies, analyzing sales and labor reports, cultivating vendor relationships, and resolving team issues. The Assistant Team Leader also functions as the departmental head in the absence of the Team Leader, ensures adherence to health and safety standards, and models Whole Foods Market’s core values across all interactions.
This role requires a dynamic individual with a passion for natural and organic products and a proactive approach to leadership and teamwork. It involves a blend of operational oversight and people management skills to sustain high retail execution standards and ensure customer satisfaction. Candidates must be prepared to engage with team members and customers with a positive, friendly attitude, exemplifying the company’s vision and goals. The job demands physical stamina including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand or walk for 6 to 8 hours per day, and perform various physical motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching. It also requires experience handling equipment such as knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and ladders. The position offers hourly wages ranging from $23.55 to $36.08, depending on experience, along with access to extensive benefits under the Whole Benefits program, including paid time off, health and wellness support, and financial wellness resources.
Working at Whole Foods Market means more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of a revolutionary company culture that values diversity, inclusion, and sustainable business practices. The company promotes equal employment opportunities regardless of race, gender identity, age, disability, or other legally protected characteristics. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply directly through the company’s official recruitment channels to ensure accuracy and legitimacy. This role is ideal for those who thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and who aspire to grow their careers in retail management while making a tangible difference in their community and the environment.
