The Baker role at Polly's Bakery is an essential position that focuses on the hands-on preparation and production of a variety of bakery products, ranging from breads and rolls to breakfast items like quiches and muffins. As a baker, you will be responsible for preparing products according to established recipes and portion sizes, managing daily production schedules, and maintaining clear communication with the coaching team to ensure smooth operations.

A key aspect of the role involves managing inventory items carefully — from receiving orders and checking invoices to proper labeling, organizing, and rotating ingredients and finished products to maintain freshness. You will also be responsible for cleaning baking machines, workstations, and other kitchen equipment to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe baking environment at all times. The baker is expected to comply strictly with health, sanitation, safety policies, and established weight and measurements guidelines to protect the Polly's brand and create excellent experiences for both team members and guests.

This position requires flexibility in work hours, including morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, as well as weekends and holidays. Bakers must be willing to cross-train in other kitchen or back-of-house functions to support the team as needed. The role offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $20.00, reflecting the bakery's recognition of skilled and dedicated baking professionals.

Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or enrollment in a culinary program
  • Ability to use scales, thermometers, measuring, and divide and multiply recipes
  • Valid Food Handlers Card (if required by county)
  • Availability to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with baking equipment including oven, mixers, etc.
  • Clear understanding of kitchen and food safety guidelines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare products using all methods, established portions, and recipes for baking preparation
  • Manages daily production and communication of product counts with Coaching team
  • Prepare breakfast items for bake including quiche, cinnamon rolls, muffins, etc.
  • Prepare and bake bread items including loaves, buns, rolls, cookies, etc.
  • Daily preparation of seasonal fresh fruit for pies and toppings
  • Clean all bake related machines, workstations, transit trays, and instruments too large for dishwasher
  • Responsible to properly label, organize and rotate bake ingredients in freeze and storage areas
  • Rotates bake inventory (merchandise and product supplies) to maintain freshness and quality, make products fresh daily
  • Receive orders, check invoices, and put deliveries away as needed
  • Prepare kitchen for the day including making sure everything is secure, lighting the oven, etc.
  • Notify the Coaches of any food quality issues, inconsistencies of product with recipes, low inventory, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary bake area and station at all times
  • Comply with established weight and measures, health, sanitation, and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Protect the Brand through promoting and providing extraordinary service when interacting with team members and guests
  • Demonstrate dependable leadership qualities to work primarily unassisted, and is proactive to escalate matters as needed
  • Flexible to cross train in other functions for back of the house/kitchen areas
  • Must be available to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts
