The role demands a combination of culinary skills and knowledge, specifically in classical bread production, cake decoration, laminated doughs, and various pastry techniques. Effective communication skills—both verbal and written—are crucial to interact with team members, guests, and vendors professionally. Candidates for this position are expected to have a minimum of two years of bakery experience, preferably within a commercial, production, or professional bakery setting. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory, while an Associate's degree in culinary arts with a focus on baking and pastry is preferred. Certification in Servsafe is required, ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are adhered to. Flexibility in schedule is necessary, as the role includes working shifts during holidays, nights, and weekends depending on business needs.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years bakery experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Servsafe certification
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to lift, push or pull up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand motions
  • Basic understanding of bread and pastry production
  • Experience in hotel, casino, or large-scale food service operations
  • Must demonstrate coordination, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepare, bake, and finish cakes, pies, French pastry, cream tarts and other dessert/baked items according to the standard recipe
  • Prepare dessert and baked goods for restaurants and banquets as per production sheets
  • prepare requisition for items for storeroom and pastry/bakery chef approval
  • Maintain clean and sanitary workstations within Servsafe and GSR guidelines
  • Ability to follow directions and recipes as dictated by bakery management
  • Demonstrate abilities to meet performance expectations with communication, initiative, problem solving, guest service, work habits, and professional conduct
  • Handle several opening duties to include outlet and banquet orders and prepping for day-to-day tasks
  • Produce a wide range of breads, pastries, and other baked goods
  • Manage bread and pastry stock rotation and bread/pastry inventory
  • Be proactive and react quickly and appropriately in identifying problems, finding solutions, and making sound decisions that reflect positively on the company
  • Articulate information both verbally and in writing in a way that can be easily understood by team members, guests, and vendors
  • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position
