Within the University, the Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division plays a critical role in managing event planning, hospitality services, and customer service functions across campus. One key component of UOES is Three Leaf Catering, the University’s premier catering service responsible for delivering high-quality food and events to the Notre Dame community. Three Leaf Catering prides itself on its dedication to excellence, hospitality, and service, making it a vital part of the campus experience.

The University of Notre Dame is currently seeking a full-time Baker 1 for Three Leaf Catering, located within the campus Hospitality department. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop their baking and pastry skills while contributing to the culinary offerings at a top-tier university. The Baker 1 works closely with senior bakers to prepare a variety of baked goods, including cookies, muffins, brownies, and cakes, following standardized recipes and maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

In this position, the Baker 1 supports all facets of bakery operations, such as ingredient measurement, mixing, baking, decorating, labeling, and proper storage of both raw materials and finished products. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to ServSafe kitchen standards, and following all food safety and sanitation protocols to ensure compliance and protect public health. Furthermore, the Baker 1 will be involved in inventory management by tracking supplies and reporting low stock levels to the management team.

This role requires flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and shifts tied to special events, ensuring that Three Leaf Catering consistently delivers timely production and exceptional service during peak times. The Baker 1 is an essential team member who collaborates effectively with colleagues to uphold the University’s hospitality standards, guaranteeing that guests receive high-quality food and a welcoming atmosphere during all catered events.

Job Duties

  • assist with preparing basic pastry and bakery items such as cookies, muffins, brownies, and cakes using standard recipes
  • accurately measure, scale, and mix ingredients, following directions from senior bakers or chefs
  • support general bakery operations including mixing, cooking/baking, assembly, setup, decorating, labeling, and proper storage of ingredients and finished products
  • maintain a clean, organized workstation and ensure proper use, cleaning, and storage of tools and equipment
  • follow and uphold ServSafe kitchen standards and all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • assist with inventory tasks such as tracking supplies and reporting low stock
  • collaborate with the baking team to ensure timely production and high-quality service, especially during peak hours and special events
  • uphold standards of hospitality, ensuring all guests receive the highest quality food and service
