Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is a prestigious institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and a vibrant, mission-driven community. It is more than just a workplace; it is a nurturing environment where every employee is valued and supported. Rooted in a strong Catholic tradition, Notre Dame emphasizes holistic development by caring for the mind, body, and spirit of its community members. This creates a workplace culture that prioritizes well-being and fosters a deep sense of belonging among staff, faculty, and students alike. As an employer, Notre Dame provides numerous opportunities for career growth and development, while encouraging its team members to be a positive force within the university and the broader community. Whether you are contributing to groundbreaking research, enhancing the student experience, or supporting the university's mission through other specialized roles, your efforts at Notre Dame will have a meaningful and lasting impact both on campus and beyond.

Notre Dame's Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently seeking a full-time Baker 1 to join its Three Leaf Catering team within the campus Hospitality department. The UOES division is vital to the successful planning, management, and execution of the university's events, hospitality services, and overall customer experience. These functions play a key role in supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations, helping to maintain Notre Dame's standing as a world-class institution.

The Baker 1 position is an entry-level baking role focused on assisting in the preparation of basic pastry and bakery products. This role is essential in supporting the daily bakery production that serves the Notre Dame community, ensuring that quality and hospitality standards are consistently met. Under the guidance of senior bakers, the Baker 1 will develop foundational skills in pastry techniques, ingredient preparation, and kitchen operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Responsibilities include mixing and baking a variety of baked goods such as cookies, muffins, brownies, and cakes, as well as maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the bakery workspace.

This role requires a strong commitment to food safety and sanitation, adhering to ServSafe standards and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with the baking team to ensure efficient production and high levels of customer satisfaction, especially during busy periods and special university events. The position offers a competitive wage of $17.50 per hour and is ideal for individuals looking to start or advance their career in baking and pastry arts within a supportive and mission-driven educational environment.
