Operating in over 300 locations across 65 countries on six continents, Menzies Aviation specializes in delivering time-critical logistics services that are essential to the smooth operation of airports and airline facilities worldwide. As a significant partner in the aviation sector, the company fosters an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and experiences and is committed to equal opportunity employment and creating a supportive work environment where every team member can thrive and reach their full potential.
The role of the Bag Runner at Menzies Aviation is essential to ensuring the efficient handling and movement of passenger baggage within busy airport facilities. This position involves transporting, sorting, and delivering baggage between terminals, baggage claim areas, ticket counters, aircraft staging zones, and other designated locations. The Bag Runner's efforts support the timely movement of baggage, helping to minimize delays and improve customer satisfaction throughout the airport experience. The role requires attention to safety and security standards, careful coordination with airline and airport personnel, and a strong commitment to both operational excellence and customer service.
As a critical link in the baggage handling chain, the Bag Runner is expected to work in a fast-paced airport environment characterized by moving equipment, varying temperatures, noise, and strict operational deadlines. The position demands physical stamina and the capability to lift and move baggage and equipment, sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Bag Runners must be able to work indoors and outdoors, withstand varying weather conditions, and respond swiftly to urgent or time-sensitive baggage handling needs, including missed connections and delayed baggage.
Accurate documentation and rigorous adherence to safety protocols are fundamental aspects of the role. Bag Runners handle equipment inspections, follow stringent security protocols including holding a security-sensitive identification badge, and maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor when interacting with passengers and airport stakeholders. The job requires strong communication skills in English, as well as the ability to operate reliably in a team environment while adhering to company policies and objectives.
Menzies Aviation offers a competitive starting pay rate of $13.00 USD per hour for this position. The company also ensures a safe and supportive working environment by enforcing substance misuse policies with regular testing, maintaining high standards of workplace health and safety, and fostering a culture of wellbeing and compliance. Overall, the Bag Runner position presents a valuable opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute meaningfully to the aviation industry in a dynamic and diverse work setting while growing their skills and career.
