Job Description
Hotel Saint Vincent is an iconic hospitality establishment situated in the historic Lower Garden District of New Orleans. Located in a landmark building dating back to 1861, this hotel perfectly blends rich history with modern elegance. Originally established as The Saint Vincent's Infant Asylum by Irish immigrant and philanthropist Margaret Haughery, the red brick Beaux Arts-era style building has been thoughtfully restored to honor its storied past while providing guests with an authentic, luxurious experience. Owned and operated by Austin-based McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality, Hotel Saint Vincent boasts 75 beautifully appointed rooms and a reputation for delivering outstanding hospitality. The company prides itself on a welcoming culture driven by core values such as being good neighbors, generous, authentic, kind and honest, fun-loving, inclusive, and service-driven. These values guide every interaction with both guests and team members.
The role offered at Hotel Saint Vincent is integral to maintaining the exceptional standards and seamless guest experiences the hotel is known for. This position entails working in a high-energy, full-service environment where customer satisfaction takes precedence. Ideal candidates will excel at providing professional, attentive, and gracious service to all guests, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently. The role requires balancing multiple responsibilities including welcoming guests, seating them according to preferences and management direction, and maintaining a well-ordered dining environment. Attention to detail is crucial, especially in setting tables impeccably with utensils, glassware, and plates arranged neatly to create a welcoming atmosphere.
This position demands a collaborative spirit as well as strong communication skills since it serves as a key connection between front-of-house and back-of-house operations. It requires vigilance in monitoring food preparation and delivery times to guarantee meals are served piping hot and accurately. Additional duties include clearing and resetting tables quickly and efficiently, supporting waiters and kitchen staff as necessary, and stepping in to assist wherever the restaurant manager directs to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant operations. Physical stamina is important due to the need to lift and carry heavy items such as dishes and tubs, and the candidate must be able to work calmly under pressure and prioritize job duties effectively.
This full-time role also requires availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the 24/7 nature of the hotel and restaurant business. Employees benefit from a comprehensive suite of perks including health insurance, dental insurance, life and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday pay after 90 days of employment, and employee discounts at the hotel’s restaurants. Overall, this position provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality, looking to grow professionally, and keen to contribute to an authentic, service-driven environment nestled in one of New Orleans’ most historic neighborhoods.
