Job Description

Homesense, a division within TJX Companies, stands as a premier off-price home furnishings retailer, dedicated to offering a diverse array of high-quality home décor and furniture products at exceptional value. As part of the Fortune 100 company TJX, which also encompasses renowned brands such as TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods, Sierra, Winners, and TK Maxx, Homesense thrives within a vibrant ecosystem that values diversity, fosters collaboration, and prioritizes the professional growth of its team members. Operating in both retail store environments and distribution centers, TJX Companies collectively champion a culture of development and opportunity, making them a leading player in global retail.

The role at Homesense offers an exciting career growth opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service, team leadership, and retail operations. Located at the Homesense Store 2009 in Wilmington, NC, this position is focused on executing receiving and merchandising standards to uphold the highest levels of customer satisfaction and store organization. With a starting hourly pay range between $13.75 and $14.25, compensation reflects an individual's experience, relevant skills, and qualifications. This role embodies hands-on leadership: orchestrating the delivery of merchandise, training and mentoring associates on effective processing principles, and maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting sales floor.

The position demands a proactive approach to customer engagement, ensuring that each visitor receives a positive and memorable shopping experience. The ideal candidate promotes a culture of honesty and integrity while maintaining confidentiality when required. Critical responsibilities include managing the flow of new merchandise from truck delivery to sales floor placement, ensuring all items are properly tagged, hung, and coded according to strict merchandising philosophies and signage standards. Team productivity is continually monitored, with coaching provided to associates to optimize performance and adherence to store plans. The role also involves back stock management, ensuring effective inventory rotation to facilitate timely replenishment.

Integral to the role are safety awareness and compliance with all labor laws, policies, and environmental programs, including recycling and hazardous waste handling. The candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, effectively coordinating between management and associates to set priorities and provide ongoing updates. Recognition and constructive feedback are fundamental to this leadership style, which supports continuous improvement and fosters team cohesion. Moreover, the role actively supports store shrink reduction goals, credit, and loyalty program promotions, underscoring Homesense's commitment to operational excellence.

The Homesense environment values flexibility, as work schedules often include nights and weekends to meet the dynamic needs of the retail operation. This position suits individuals who are detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and can adapt swiftly to changing circumstances. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation, reflecting the hands-on nature of the role.

Joining Homesense means becoming part of a team that embraces an open-door policy and a supportive work culture. The company offers a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support associates both inside and outside the workplace. These benefits include employee discounts, health and wellness programs, financial planning resources, and paid time off, among others. Homesense’s commitment to equal opportunity employment ensures a diverse workforce where all individuals are valued and provided with opportunities to thrive. This role represents a meaningful step toward growing one’s career within a leading retail organization, with excellent support, competitive pay, and robust benefits.
