The role of a US Foods Driver based in Houston, TX, represents an excellent career opportunity for individuals interested in the foodservice industry and logistics. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, with variable start times between 5:00 am and 7:00 am. The role comes with a weekly pay guarantee of $1,250 and offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K, life insurance, and more. Drivers are key representatives of US Foods, entrusted with the safe and efficient transportation of goods to vendors and company drop-off sites.

In this role, drivers are responsible for adhering to federal and company safety regulations, ensuring freight accuracy and proper trailer temperatures, and performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Physical requirements include the ability to work in various weather conditions and perform frequent stops during shifts. The role requires drivers to have a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with applicable endorsements and the capacity to operate manual transmissions where necessary. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, bilingual communication skills are a plus but not mandatory, and registration with the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a federal requirement.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements
  • Minimum six months commercial driving experience, preferably in food or beverage delivery
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Willingness to travel 2-3 times per week
  • Ability to read and communicate in English
  • Must be physically capable of performing coupling procedures
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions with frequent stops

Job Qualifications

  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry
  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language

Job Duties

  • Safely drive truck to vendors and company drop-off sites
  • Verify freight on truck, required trailer temperatures and accuracy of freight with vendors
  • Return tractor and trailer to division when route is completed
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
  • Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops
