Job Description

The hiring company operates in the water management and safety industry, specializing in testing, inspecting, and repairing backflow prevention devices. These devices play a crucial role in protecting public water supplies from contamination by preventing backflow, which is the unwanted reverse flow of water that could allow pollutants to enter clean water systems. The company serves a diverse client base across Oregon and Southwest Washington, including commercial, residential, industrial, and construction environments, ensuring that these communities comply with local and federal water safety regulations.

This establishment prides itself on delivering high-quality, reliable backflow testing and repair services with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. By maintaining and repairing backflow prevention devices, the company helps to safeguard public health and uphold environmental safety standards. Their team of certified professionals utilizes their extensive knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations to ensure that all work meets or exceeds compliance requirements while protecting clients’ infrastructure and water supply.

The role being offered is a Backflow Device Technician position, focused on hands-on testing, inspecting, and repairing backflow devices. This full-time position requires a motivated individual capable of working independently as well as leading teams when needed. The technician will be responsible for servicing devices primarily within Oregon and Southwest Washington, inspecting various systems including commercial and residential properties. The candidate will be expected to carry out detailed inspection reports, ensure equipment is maintained and operated safely, and respond to emergency service calls when necessary.

Key responsibilities include meeting with building engineers and property management to communicate work progress, performing repairs to guarantee compliant system operation, and maintaining the company's vehicle and equipment. Flexibility is an essential trait for this role as the technician must occasionally work evenings, weekends, or travel out of town to meet operational demands. The company also emphasizes adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe driving practices.

In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining effective communication within team environments and with client representatives. The position requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation, reflecting the mobility requirements of this job. The ability to interpret and apply relevant codes, laws, and regulatory standards is crucial, alongside knowledge of utilizing and maintaining power tools, ladders, and medium equipment. The physical demands of the job involve lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in a variety of challenging environments such as confined spaces and active construction sites.

Overall, this opportunity is suited for dedicated professionals who are passionate about protecting water quality and public health through meticulous backflow device maintenance and repair. By joining this company, technicians can expect to be part of a committed team that values safety, expertise, and customer service excellence. This role provides a chance for career growth within the water safety industry, offering hands-on experience and the possibility to lead projects and team efforts in a dynamic work setting.
