Job Description

The position of Back-Of-House (BOH) Manager for Root Down, located in the Denver International Airport, represents a critical leadership role within Mission Yogurt. This full-time position focuses on managing and overseeing all back-of-house operations, which include ensuring food quality, monitoring kitchen team performance, managing inventory, and enforcing food safety protocols. The BOH Manager plays an essential role in facilitating efficient kitchen workflows while upholding the highest quality standards, thus directly impacting the guest experience and overall restaurant performance.

As a BOH Manager, the individual must harness strong leadership skills to cultivate a positive and high-performing work environment. This involves close collaboration with the restaurant’s leadership team to align kitchen operations seamlessly with front-of-house service and organizational goals. The role demands an ability to handle complex operational issues resourcefully, including stepping in for the Executive Chef as necessary to plan and direct food preparation. Additionally, this management position requires strict adherence to health and safety standards, including compliance with sanitation regulations and successful navigation of health inspections.

Mission Yogurt's BOH Manager will also lead efforts to train, schedule, and evaluate kitchen staff, optimize inventory management through accurate supply ordering, and maintain professionalism in all interactions with peers and customers. The role encourages innovation in menu design and food presentation to continuously elevate the dining experience. Physical demands include extended periods of standing, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks, underscoring the need for stamina and physical resilience.

Job Duties

  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • produce high-quality plates in both presentation and taste
  • ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance
  • order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards, including Health inspections
  • maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
