Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior kitchen experience preferred
  • CA Food Handlers Certification
  • Must wear close-toed, non-slip shoes
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Clear verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods
  • Must follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Prior kitchen experience preferred

  • Understanding of kitchen equipment and knife skills
  • Knowledge of cooking terms and FIFO
  • Good knowledge of hot and cold food preparation
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of vegetable prep, portioning, and safe handling of meats and fish
  • Understanding of sanitation rules
  • Ability to multitask and maintain focus
  • Troubleshooting and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
  • Clear and effective verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail including reading tickets
  • Knowledge of major allergens

Job Duties

  • Prepare food according to recipe and restaurant specifications in a timely and efficient manner
  • Complete opening and closing checklists
  • Assist others in opening and closing the kitchen
  • Portion food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications
  • Follow manager's direction to manage all aspects of the station
  • Set up station according to SOPs and prep lists for service
  • Prep food products using proper rotation and quality checks
  • Perform correct cooking techniques per guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with line staff and front of house to ensure proper timing
  • Follow procedures to prevent cross-contamination for allergy concerns
  • Report problems or shortages to management
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area
  • Follow sanitation and safety procedures
  • Wear gloves as required
  • Unpack and stock kitchen deliveries
  • Perform assigned cleaning duties
  • Assist other line cooks when needed
  • Help with shift changeover to ensure prompt order filling
  • Attend required training and employee meetings
  • Manage dish handling
  • Check out with manager daily
  • Perform other assigned duties
