The Bacaro Café Attendant position is a part-time or full-time opportunity that offers a starting pay rate of $15 per hour plus tips. The role is central to the guest experience at Bacaro, supporting all dayparts and ensuring exceptional service and product quality. The attendant’s responsibilities cover a broad range of duties that include light food assembly, café service, and guest hospitality across Bacaro’s food offerings and a neighboring sushi stall. This position demands a friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable individual who can seamlessly navigate different service styles from the morning pastry rush to the more composed afternoon and evening small plates service. The role requires a high level of multitasking and the ability to engage with guests in a warm, sincere manner. The Bacaro Café Attendant will be integral in maintaining the visual appeal and freshness of the pastry selection, which includes items like cornetti, brioche, and mini cannoli. During afternoon and evening hours, duties expand to assembling various small plates such as crostini, bruschette, and boards, while also preparing paninetti with various fillings. There is an emphasis on attention to detail and presentation, as well as maintaining proper portioning and food safety standards. Maintaining operational efficiency is also key, with responsibilities including opening and closing procedures, stock maintenance, and adhering to strict sanitation protocols according to ServSafe and FIFO standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of relevant food service experience preferred
  • Ability to work mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks
  • Willingness to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in café, bakery, food counter service, or light food preparation preferred
  • Strong comfort with food assembly, portioning, and plating techniques
  • Ability to memorize menu items and describe ingredients confidently
  • Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Present and maintain an appealing pastry display including cornetti, brioche, bomboloni, biscotti, mini cannoli, and seasonal danishes
  • Assist guests with selecting pastry and food items based on taste preferences and menu familiarity
  • Ensure pastries and morning items are properly stocked, labeled, rotated, and handled according to quality standards
  • Assemble small plates such as crostini, bruschette, white bean toast, 'nduja butter toast, and other cicchetti
  • Prepare and plate paninetti including prosciutto and tomato, salami and cheese, and vegetarian options
  • Build small and large salumi/formaggi boards with precision, proper portioning, and attractive presentation
  • Prepare pickled and preserved items including giardiniera, marinated artichokes, and olive assortments
  • Execute signature combos like the Cicchetti Sampler, Board and Paninetto, Evening Aperitivo, and Sharing Sets
  • Deliver warm, sincere, and anticipatory service aligned with Gather Group Standards of Excellence
  • Provide knowledgeable guidance on menu items, ingredients, portion sizes, and pairing suggestions within the food program
  • Ensure all orders are presented beautifully and delivered with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Maintain a clean and organized service environment throughout all dayparts
  • Provide customer service at neighboring sushi stall as well
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures for Bacaro Café
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, prepping, and maintaining daily par levels for all café food items
  • Uphold strict labeling, dating, rotating, and sanitation protocols (FIFO + ServSafe standards)
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all café equipment, refrigeration, prep tools, and service areas
  • Communicate low inventory items, quality concerns, or operational needs promptly
