Their mission centers on enhancing individual well-being while supporting economic, social, and environmental progress within the communities they serve.

We are currently seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic team at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This role offers $16 per hour compensation and emphasizes flexibility, with varying shifts and open availability preferred. As a Kitchen Assistant at Sodexo, you will play a crucial role in supporting food service operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment essential for efficient kitchen functioning. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with sanitation, washing kitchen utensils, caring for equipment, and performing general cleaning duties within the kitchen and support service areas. This position is integral to multiple service formats including restaurants, banquet events, food stations, premium services, and catering operations.

Working under the supervision of culinary leaders or kitchen assistant supervisors, you will contribute to the smooth daily operations and meet event-specific service demands. Your duties will vary dependent on the size of the food unit, service models, and operational necessities. Key tasks include supporting sanitation procedures during opening and closing, organizing and properly storing equipment and supplies, handling waste and recycling according to established protocols, and maintaining floors, drains, and work surfaces to meet strict safety and cleanliness standards. The physical aspect of the job requires the ability to lift and move items weighing frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.

Sodexo values punctuality and dependability, expecting team members to present themselves ready and on time for scheduled shifts. Additional tasks may be assigned based on client needs and business requirements. The company offers a supportive and flexible work environment that recognizes important life moments and encourages ongoing training and career advancement opportunities. Employees can access a comprehensive benefits package supporting health, wellness, and financial stability, which includes paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401(k) plans, discount programs, and more. Some locations also provide additional site-specific benefits such as free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, and public transit or parking assistance.

Joining Sodexo means becoming part of a team that values who you are and the unique contributions you bring. The company fosters a culture of respect, inclusivity, and belonging, assuring that everyone’s voice is heard and ideas are valued. By working at Sodexo, you are not only taking on a job but embarking on a career path designed to help you thrive professionally and personally, all while making a positive impact on others every day.
