The role of Kitchen Assistant at Sodexo, located at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, offers a full-time opportunity with an hourly wage ranging from $13.51 to $18.24. This position plays a vital role in supporting food service operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will be responsible for sanitation, washing kitchen utensils, equipment care, and general cleaning of kitchen and service support areas. You will support various food service operations including restaurants, banquets, food stands, premium services, and catering by ensuring workspaces are well-maintained and prepared for service.
Working under the direction of the Kitchen Assistant Supervisor or culinary leaders, your daily tasks will vary depending on the size of the unit, the service model, and operational needs. This dynamic position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and sanitation. Responsibilities include assisting with sanitation procedures during opening and closing of food service areas, organizing and properly storing equipment, supplies, and service items, handling waste, recycling, and grease disposal according to established protocols, and maintaining floors, drains, and work surfaces to meet cleanliness and safety standards.
Physical demands include the ability to frequently lift and move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Reliability and punctual attendance for scheduled shifts are crucial for success in this role. Kitchen Assistants may also be assigned additional tasks based on business needs and client requirements.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in kitchen helper, sanitation, or food service support preferred
- ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
